Personal Trainer Overview

I have been working with clients since May of 1995. I believe that every person is unique, and their training plan should reflect this, BUT everyone is the same...we all need to move! :)

Training Philosophy

My approach emphasizes movement-based training. The human body was designed to move, yet the majority of the population sits at a desk for eight hours a day. A lack of movement is most definitely linked to decreased health and performance. I am not a believer in cookie-cutter type programs!

Bio

Dear Fellow Fitness Enthusiast,

I’ve been a personal trainer for over 16 years. A decade ago, I began working with clients in their homes. For the past four years, I’ve made this the focus of my personal training business. There have been numerous obstacles along the way, but I can honestly say that I was always meant to be a fitness professional. I had a few “departures” from this path. For a few years I believed I was meant to become a doctor. For another year or two, I believed Physical Therapy was my future. I couldn’t have been further from the truth. Every time I strayed from my true passion, personal training, I lost that “spark.” I became more of a “human doing” versus a “human being.” I am happy to say that since then, I learned to LOVE life and love what I do!

I simply love helping people discover that being healthy isn’t as difficult as they once thought. I have also always loved the human body and its amazing systems. It’s quite simply the most amazing machine known to man. The human body is meant to move. Being able to promote (and at times, even restore) health in those I train is extremely rewarding for me. To me, personal training isn’t a job – it’s my life. I was once said to me “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” This is completely true for me. I love what I do!

Furthermore, I have come to love working with clients in their homes and outdoors. I don’t subscribe to one style of training, as I feel no method by itself can be considered comprehensive. I prefer to “fuse” the methods I feel are most effective into workouts appropriate for each and every one of my clients, based on their goals, fitness level, surroundings, and unique style of learning. The foundation for each of my clients’ programs is bodyweight training. Once a client has demonstrated the proper levels of stabilization, body control, and overall strength, I “kick things up a notch” by adding tools such as kettlebells, resistance bands, and medicine balls to their workouts.

I am also a triathlete! If you have even an inkling of a desire to give the sport a tri (lol), I really suggest that you go for it! I’ll gladly offer any suggestions and advice to fellow newbies!

My clients want to feel and look their best, so they can get the most out of life each and every day. Fitness is a journey, not a destination – train for LIFE! Are you ready?

Yours in Health,

Sarah E. Rippel, BS, CPT
