Bio
I am not what you would call "naturally" athletic; I wasn't particularly active as a child, and I am terrible at sports. It wasn't until after college that I discovered fitness. So there I was one day, a few months after graduating with a degree in Global Studies and Political Science (which I had no intention of using) and a job managing the projection booth at a movie theater (which I was kind of sick of). I was running on the treadmill, thinking of how much I didn't enjoy running because it was hard, but that it always made me feel good when I'm done. And it dawned on me: what if I could get paid for helping other people feel good about exercise? What if I could help other people experience the same sense of accomplishment and well being that I always felt after a good run? And that's how I got into personal training. It was random, but in the end it turned out to be my passion. Personally, I went from not being able to run for 5 minutes straight to completing an Ironman-distance triathlon. (I also learned to enjoy the workout, not just the end of it). But I also have the satisfaction of being able to help people of all shapes and sizes and abilities figure out what fitness means to them, and how to achieve that. You don't have to be athletically inclined to be fit; you just have to find something physical that you enjoy doing, and push yourself to do it. Weight loss and fat loss are my particular specialties. My favorite experience is helping my clients figure out the balance between nutrition and exercise, and seeing the self-confidence they gain when the weight starts coming off. My goal in life is to spread my love of fitness to any one who's willing to try it--not just the working out (because let's face it, that's just work) but the confidence and exhilaration and stress-relief that comes from being healthy. Fitness has changed my life and the lives of my clients, and it can change yours as well.
