Personal Trainer Overview

Paul Shepherd is a fitness author, certified personal trainer, and former owner of "Pick up the Pace", an express workout gym in Richmond, Virginia, where he helped hundreds of people lose fat and tone up.

Through his own research and experimentation on himself and others while working in gyms and in-home training over the years, he has developed his unique system called "Lifetime Lean Body”, which he is currently writing into e-book format. This lifelong program was designed to help anyone at any fitness level get results that you can-see-in-the-mirror without having to ‘live in the gym.'

As well, it will help you: re-shape your body, lose fat/weight, gain lean muscle tissue, get stronger, improve heart health, increase bone density, increase energy, reduce pain, lower blood pressure/cholesterol, build self-esteem/confidence, etc. Paul can be contacted at pshepherdfitness@yahoo.com or 804-986-1366.

Training Philosophy

I am driven by YOUR results. I specialize in workouts that produce results you-can-see-in-the- mirror without having to ‘live in the gym’. I specialize in short, intense workouts for maximal results by putting emphasis on every repetition. Proper breathing, strict form, and focused intensity on the working muscle are key throughout the workout.

Education

I received a degree in Business Management from Jefferson Technical College in Steubenville, Ohio in 1992. I had played for a hall of fame football coach in the state of Ohio, where I got great experience in results-producing workouts. I played college football at Ohio Northern University and became a certified personal trainer in 2005. I study real-world trainers who have helped people get in the best possible shape with as little training time as possible. My research about nutrition focuses on using simple rules for eating sensibly and to allow room for our favorite foods.

Bio

Paul Shepherd was born in Steubenville-Ohio, a small

steel town near Pittsburgh, in 1969. He loved playing

sports since a very young age and considered himself a‘health-nut’ while he was growing up. He started weight training when he got a weight set and bench for Christmas at eleven years old. In high school he played on an undefeated state championship football team in 1984. Our football teams, he declares, “were always stronger than the other teams we played due to our

superior off-season conditioning program, which

included intense weight training.” He went on to play college football at Ohio Northern

University, attended Ohio State for one year, and got a Business Management Degree

from Jefferson Technical College in Steubenville in 1992. He became a Certified

Personal Trainer thru AFPA in 2005.

After receiving several phone calls from an old friend in 1992, who had moved to Florida

years earlier, about coming down there to work with him in the restaurant industry, Paul

decided to go. He then started his career in Restaurant Management working for Waffle

House in Ocala, Florida in 1992. He worked as a District Manager overseeing three

restaurants. After six years in Florida, including four in Jacksonville, he was transferred

by Waffle House to Virginia in 1998. He worked in the Fredericksburg and Richmond

markets thru 2006. Tired and burned out from the 24-hour restaurant business in his last

few years there, he saved money to open up his own business. Not knowing what kind of

business he was going to open up, he realized he wanted to do something he has enjoyed

all his life- Fitness.

In June of 2006 he opened up a fitness center called ‘Pick Up The Pace-30 minute circuit

workout,’ where he helped hundreds of people lose weight and tone up. He ended up

closing only a year later when another fitness center opened up across the street.

Shortly after closing his business, knowing about the old ‘Clubfit’ gym from being a

member in the early 2000’s and wanting to stay in the fitness industry, he offered to

owner-Marty, his personal training services and became a member of the Body Mechanix

staff in July, 2007. He had also done in-home personal training from referrals of his old

gym. Then, when Body Mechanix merged with Divine24Hr Fitness in March of 2012, he

stayed on the personal training staff there, where he trains currently.

Over the years, Paul had heard many people talk about and tell him how hard it is to lose

weight and/or to get in shape. This prompted him to set out and research the best, most

efficient ways to conquer this issue that so many people struggle with, once and for all!

Through many years of research and much trial and error, he has found and now

specializes in using simple concepts in which he applies to himself and his clients, to get

results fast. They include employing short workouts done in a specialized manner and

following simple nutrition guidelines. Paul can show you how to apply these secrets so

you, like hundreds of others from his former gym and the old Body Mechanix Gym, can

follow his blueprint to achieve your ultimate fitness and weight loss goals.
