Personal Trainer Overview

The result has been that my power output on the bike this season is measurably improved. The proof is that last week I rode (and won) the Utah State Time Trial for my 60+age group in a time that was 20 seconds faster than last year. (Client)

Training Philosophy

I have been working / training with MaryAnn Menlove for five years now!

MaryAnn motivates and inspires me on a daily basis. She pushes me to be a stronger, healthier and happier individual. Not only has she been my personal trainer – she has been a life coach and most importantly a wonderful friend. It has been a pleasure to work with someone who truly cares about my personal success as much as her own. MaryAnn is someone who pushes me beyond my comfort zones to reach my goals and objectives. She accomplishes this by providing consistent positive feedback and a workout schedule that is individually tailored to fit my skills and needs.

Without MaryAnn’s positive influence in my life I would not have been able to accomplish these things:

Twenty pushups at a family gathering – they doubted I could do it – no problemo!!

Carry my own HUGE bags of groceries / goodies from Costco. I can’t believe how heavy kitty litter can be!!

Train for and complete three full marathons and four half marathons!

Maintain my health and positive attitude while encountering many life-changing events.

Endure the endless compliments of my friends and family regarding my strength and specifically my well-defined shoulder and back muscles.

Track and maintain a healthy caloric intake – she even took me grocery shopping to point out some healthier choices!

Develop the many friendships I have established by attending her weight training classes.

Shift my focus to the many blessings in my life – while minimizing the negative thoughts – if only we could have met earlier I would have saved thousandson therapy costs!!

Increase my self-esteem – it’s only natural to feel better about yourself when you surpass the goals you have set. I’ve grown so much as a person in these five years!

Restored my faith in humanity – MaryAnn makes a difference in peoples’ lives because she cares and wants to witness their success – regardless of the paycheck. What a concept!!

Bio

MaryAnn Menlove is a graduate of the University of Utah Exercise and Sport Science department. She is currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has previously held other health and fitness certifications such as Certified Athletic Trainer.

MaryAnn spent 6 years with the University of Utah in the Athletic Training department. Most notably she helped the Utah Co-ed Cheerleading squad to two National Championships. She also traveled with the cheerleaders and athletic teams to events such as the Fiesta Bowl, The Liberty Bowl and many NCAA championship events. Her work in Athletic training has given her a strong background in injury care and prevention.

She has worked with clientele from all walks of life and believes that a healthy life makes a happy life. There is more to health than simply ‘working out’ she would say, and her actions usually speak louder than her words. She has been working as a Personal Trainer for 8 years and loves every minute of it.

The most recent addition to MaryAnn’s resume is Adjunct Professor for the Utah Career College where she has been teaching Kinesiology, Nutrition and Exercise Prescription for Special Populations. Teaching and influencing the future generation of Personal Trainers, Wellness coordinators and Massage Therapists has been a challenge and a blessing that has made MaryAnn a better trainer.

The fall of ’09 brought some new clients to MaryAnn’s door…Competitive Cyclists. During the winter months she had the opportunity to work with several cyclists developing strength and explosive power. The results were phenomenal. August 2010 one client competed in World Masters cycling races and placed 5th in the TT and 7th in the road race. In Sept 2010 another client competed in the LOTOJA and places 5th, taking 1hour and 50 minutes off her pervious time.
