Personal Trainer Overview
I am a Personal trainer in the Birmingham area that specializes in strength training, cardiovascular exercise (weight loss or endurance training), and functional movement training. My mission and purpose is to give others the information and support they need, using science based knowledge and challenging personalized strength training, to foster the self-empowerment, discipline, and confidence necessary to living a healthy life.
Training Philosophy
My philosophy is "what challenges you is what changes you". I create challenging but manageable programs specific to each client's needs and goals. These programs usually include a balance of strength training, cardio, and corrective exercise. Muscle balancing and activation is also a key component of each training session because I believe that it is important for our body to work as efficiently as possible. The more efficient a person's movement patterns are, the stronger they become. My programs are great for those looking to increase muscle mass, lose excess body fat, tone and shape desired muscle groups, or just increase their overall strength capacity,
Education
I have a B.S. of Biology with a Pre-medicine concentration. This means that I have extensive knowledge on subjects such as physiology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics and other areas of study important in the fitness industry.I am also currently pursuing a Masters in Health Science that will ultimately enhance my skills as a fitness professional.
I am also a former athlete of 12 years with 4 years of collegiate competition in track and field. I am also currently pursuing a Masters in Health Sciences.
Bio
As a former athlete, fitness has always been a cornerstone in how I live my life and how I move through the challenges that come. Personally, I struggled with self-esteem and anxiety during adolescence and was frustrated when the conventional methods of therapy and counseling did not change how I felt. I came to the realization that the help I was seeking actually comes from within and that in order to start feeling better I had to attack my issues head on. In order to do this I had to focus on strengthening aspects that are vital for overcoming difficulties. The tools I use to conquer obstacles today like discipline, mental or emotional strength, and perseverance, I cultivated through exercise. I firmly believe that what challenges you is what changes you, therefor it is important to routinely place your mind in challenging environments in order to teach yourself how to thrive in places that are seen as uncomfortable but are also embedded into our lives as human beings.
