Personal Trainer Overview

Nothing compares to being an integral part of a client’s journey toward and achievement of their fitness goals. Employing coaching tools and techniques I am able to empower my clients to identify those obstacles which are keeping them from reaching their fitness goals. Nutrition and exercise information are abundant, yet sadly, obesity continues to be a leading cause of death in the United States. There is so much more to fitness than counting calories or repetitions! My passion is facilitating my clients’ discovery of that and then designing a program that works for them.

Training Philosophy

I believe two key factors in reaching fitness goals are consistency and convenience. I feel that these two factors must be a part of any fitness program, whether the goal is weight loss or winning a professional motocross race.

Bio

While studying business and working as an accountant I discovered the impact of nutrition on body composition quite by chance. I had been a runner for a few years, but my body composition remained relatively stable. I decided to start consuming a healthier diet and was amazed at the resulting change in my appearance and body composition. Shortly thereafter I left my job as an accountant and pursued my undergraduate degree in Dietetics at Michigan State University. While at MSU, I began lifting weights in addition to running. I was again amazed at the change in my appearance as a result of altering my fitness regime. With my interest piqued after experiencing this change in my appearance, I went on to complete my Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.

I began working as a personal trainer and nutrition consultant while finishing my Master of Science degree. As a self-employed trainer and dietitian I have the privilege of working with people at many levels of fitness. I design custom nutrition and fitness plans based upon the client’s goals and current fitness level. I have designed programs for, and currently work with 17 year old amateur football linemen; senior citizens, who often have health concerns; and professional motocross racers working to hone their athletic skills, and rise to the top of their sport.
