Personal Trainer Overview
Training Philosophy
Fitness Training Philosophy - First, let me say that there is no one perfect way for everyone to train. Differing goals, injuries, health conditions, lifestyles, etc., dictate that each individual develop a training program appropriate for them. Having said that, what I have found works for me, and what research is now showing works for the vast number of trainees, is brief but intense training. A small number of big, basic exercises along with some supporting exercises, performed in perfect form, no more than three times a week. If you couple this type of strength training with some cardio-vascular and flexibility training, you can reach your potential for a strong, lean, injury-free body. This is the basis upon which I focus the training with my clients. It's a great way to train, and most importantly - it works!
General Training Philosophy - My general teaching/training philosophy is pretty simple - Teach people what they need to know to manage their lives... and get out of the way!
I want you to have the knowledge to be able to train in a productive and injury-free manner, and to be able to design new training programs for yourself for the rest of your life. When you are armed with this knowledge, training becomes a fun and challenging activity, versus one where you are dependent on a Personal Trainer to develop your programs, and you're mindlessly going through the motions of your latest prescribed training program sometimes without even knowing why.
My take on human nature is that most people know, intuitively, what is best for them, and my role is to enhance that knowledge by arming them with the information they need to take care of themselves for the rest of their lives. I want to teach you how to train so that you no longer need me. Hence, my "Training Clinic" approach to personal training.
