Personal Trainer Overview
Training Philosophy
That being said, this is all about you. If there is a particular area you want to improve, we can do that. Whether you want to gain muscle, lose fat, improve you balance, increase your explosive strength or muscular endurance, or just get bigger arms, we can work on that together. Again, this is all about your goals. I may have my own ideas about fitness, but your needs and desires with regard to fitness are paramount. Obviously, we still need to be safe and not create any issues further down the road. That's where at least some aspects of the other areas of fitness come in, especially balance and flexibility.
Overall, this will be a joint venture. We will combine my knowledge and experience with your personal goals. I like to think of it as a partnership. For you to succeed as the client and I as the trainer, we need to work together. Hopefully, in the process, we both will be satisfied and will have learned something along the way.
Bio
After several weeks of taking it easy and stretching habitually, I decided to join a gym. I found one in my neighborhood and proceeded to try and strengthen my back and body. I was mostly flying blind at first, but couldn't afford a personal trainer at the time. I began to research exercise protocols on my own and, in a sense, experiment on myself. It was a slow and sometimes painful process, but a good learning experience. I eventually found my stride and began to feel stronger and less worried about my back.
About two years had past when I decided to take my physical fitness in a new direction. I had always wanted to practice martial arts as a boy and decided to give it a go. I found a kung fu school locally and enrolled. I felt confident in the strength of my back and my new found, albeit amateur, fitness knowledge. I continued my fitness training and research alongside my kung fu practice. After 4 years I had received my brown belt, but was looking for a change.
My kung fu school also ran a kickboxing program. I dabbled in kickboxing while taking kung fu and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I decided to switch programs and see where I could go with kickboxing. After four years, I received my Blackbelt and continue to train to this day. Over those four years I entered two of our in-house tournaments. In the first one, I placed last in my division but it was a great learning experience. In the next one, I placed first in my division.
Throughout my martial arts training, I continued my strength and conditioning work. I researched on my own and continually experimented with new ways to push myself and stay motivated. I always enjoyed helping my fellow martial artists when they showed an interest in strength and conditioning, so I decided to take it a step further. I obtained my personal training certification and am now excited to start a new career sharing my knowledge and experience to help others achieve their fitness goals.
