Personal Trainer Overview
I use a progressive approach that is unique to each individual. I exercise with my clients and sweat right along with them and hold them accountable for getting their workouts done.
I would like Personal Training & Solid Nutrition Foundations to be offered to everyone, not to only those more fortunate in the wallet. I offer my services on a sliding scale fee schedule. Everyone needs a trainer, even a trainer needs a trainer! We all can age gracefully.
Training Philosophy
OPT stands for Optimum Performance Training and is based on a progressive approach to training. OPT training begins the client at the appropriate stage of training specific to the clients physical abilities and goals. Through proper assessment & evaluation a client receives a unique program design that starts them out at Phase I: Balance &Stabilization. Only when clients are ready based on evaluation do they progress to the next level Phase II: Strength. Phase III is for the more advanced client or athlete. All programs include exercises that strengthen weak, under-active muscles as well as lengthen & loosen over-active tight muscles. These are known as muscle compensations from incorrect repetitive movement caused by inflamed joints, ligaments, and tissues that are over used, from sitting at a desk too long, tissue overload (too much weight on weak muscle), food allergy, medication, nutrient deficiencies, trauma, etc. These inflamed tissues & joints pull the spine and bones out of place causing improper gait & faulty movement patterns that over time cause pain and/or injury. I help clients to overcome these imbalances both externally & internally as well as achieve their personal goals. In the process the client feels better, looks better and becomes a whole healthier person.
I motivate my clients by giving them reasonable short & long term goals to obtain. I assess them with periodic true data not with just what the scale says which can be very discouraging and not at all the truth. I get motivated when my clients are motivated, when they see results and are proud of themselves it makes waking up and going to work all worth it.
If each and every person looks and feels better, the world can be a better place and I like being a part of that.

Bio
She became health conscious at age 12 when she decided to become a vegetarian. Holly began working out and was mentored by her bodybuilding cousin Richard. She got her first job at the Eastern Athletic Club on Long Island. She further worked at the EAC in Brooklyn and partnered in getting the EAC started in Tribeca, NYC. After graduating Sayville High School she moved to sunny LA, California where she met Joe Gold and became employed by him at World Gym. While at World Gym Holly began working out and mentoring with the now WG franchise owner Arnold Schwarzenegger and friend Lou Ferrigno. In 1996, Holly decided to raise a family and chose "God's Country" Eugene, Oregon as a wholesome place to raise her son Dakota, now 15 years of age. Holly chose Eugene, Oregon because it is not only a beautiful, diverse area with a supportive community but also she loves the fact that all her food is raised and grown organically within 20 miles of her doorstep (now eats fish and OG poultry). Holly has since mentored with local pioneer Naturopathic Dr. Daniel Hardt and other ND's and has worked in the following Eugene healthclubs such as the Downtown Athletic Club, LCC Fitness Center, Contours Express, and was the General Manager of both Golds Gym's in Eugene & Springfield. Holly continuously furthers her education by attending state of the art seminars, conferences and webinars and is also a national educational/motivational speaker for the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) organization. Holly currently still resides in Eugene, Oregon and has recently opened her own private healthcare practice called Being In Balance. Being In Balance offers both private one on one personal training and functional medicine using nutritional therapy.
