Personal Trainer Overview

I work with my clients to understand their goals and their current level of fitness before creating a customized training protocol unique to their needs and schedule. I focus on core strength, functional mobility, conditioning and resistance training to achieve anything from post-rehab injury training to Powerlifting and Spartan obstacle course races.

Training Philosophy

Strength. Integrity. Practice. This is my philosophy when it comes to training and life. Strength, not just in the weight room or on the trail but also in your personal life. Integrity, not only moving with purpose but also acting with it, doing what you say you are going to do. Practice, the idea of constantly working for improvement in fitness and in life.

Education

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and have studied public health at a Master's level. I am currently a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, Spartan SGX Coach and a BioForce Conditioning Specialist. I also attend numerous continuing education seminars and certifications each year, as well as keep current with the literature in this ever advancing field.

Bio

I started my fitness journey by getting involved in Track & Field and Cross Country in high school. I needed to get stronger to continue to be competitive and began weight training in addition to athletics. After high school, I continued to lift weights to stay fit and eventually spent so much time studying exercise I decided to turn it into a career.

Since becoming a Personal Trainer, I have had the opportunity to compete in Track & Field, Natural Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Obstacle Course Racing, and Highland Games Heavy Athletics. I enjoy competing multiple times a year and I am always looking for an event to train for to keep me motivated to continue striving for improvement. Currently I am the USPA Open Men's 242 Raw Oregon State Record Holder for Squat, Bench, Deadlift, and Total, as well as the 2018 Portland Highland Games Heavy Athletics Novice Men's Champion. I also hold the Shot Put School Record for College of San Mateo, which was set in 2013.

Professionally, I am a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, and Spartan SGX Coach. I am always looking to expand and continue my education, mainly by attending seminars, obtaining new certifications, and reading as much as I can.

I take great pride in helping others achieve more than they thought possible, whether that be losing weight, getting stronger, or improving their mobility or quality of life. I work with a wide variety of clients and specialize in strength and power development, athletic conditioning, and functional mobility.
