Personal Trainer Overview

I enjoy developing personal, trusting relationships with my clients. As we work together I learn about their strengths and limitations and, together, in accordance with their goals, we create challenging workout sessions which are not boring or routine. It is a pleasure to hear clients discover that they are stronger and capable of greater intensity, or that they are interested in something new that had previously been thought impossible. We enjoy these moments together as small successes which fuel our future efforts.

Training Philosophy

Exercise is key to overall, life-long health at any age. Through a safe and effective exercise program and through the development of a relationship with me and my staff, which provides inspiration and motivation, my clients meet their health and fitness goals. Ultimately, as my clients learn patience and compliance a feeling of well-being surpasses the exhausting race for the magic number and the perfect body. Though these may still be goals, my clients learn how to create healthy habits, one at a time, they learn how to forgive their mistakes and get back on course. They learn how to pace themselves for a run that should not be an isolated sprint. This is the learning which I believe is necessary for the long-term maintenance of a healthy and fit body.

Bio

Fitness Advantage opened in 1995 and was the first personal training studio ever to open in Burlington, Connecticut. I built my fitness studio into a highly respected operation that is based on a philosophy of maintaining the highest level of personal interest in meeting clientele needs. The results have been significant—both in terms of the studio’s growth and in long-term clientele loyalty. My menu of services is as unique as it is effective. To offer personal training to individuals whose budget might preclude one-on-one training, I developed Semi-Private Personal Training and works with two or four people at the same time—for reduced fees. Many of my circuit training participants requested a program focused more on strength training and fat loss in a group setting. I introduced 30/30 classes to accomplish both. I design and conduct exercise sessions for special groups—the physically challenged, specialty athletes, seniors and others. I offer residential training for people who prefer to train at home under the tutelage of a professional trainer. Perhaps most unusual, I conduct classes outdoors, taking my clients on a romp through the local woods, running and exercising in nature’s studio. My training programs are primarily oriented toward adults but I also work with young people. Most of my programs were developed and implemented in response to client requests. They all carry the Chris Borda imprint of: high energy, high level of excitement and satisfying results.

My primary objective is to provide goal- and results-oriented fitness training to individuals of all ages in an environment that is comfortable, professional, personal and mutually supportive. “Getting and staying fit”, I always say, “is about more than exercise. Knowing your clients’ level of fitness, their time and budget constraints, their goals and their need for guidance and support are critical to producing desired results. We offer a comprehensive package to that end.”
