Personal Trainer Overview
I use a variety of equipment including kettlebells, body weight exercises and free weights. Each workout typically focuses on either a bench press, deadlift or squat but includes additional movements giving the client a total body workout each session. I don't understand why trainers still use split routines, only training one or two parts of the body at each session. That is great if you are a body builder and spend 6-8 hours a week in the gym. If you are a recreational athlete, interested in fat loss or even a weekend warriror, training the whole body has many advantages.
Training Philosophy
Train movements not muscles. What I mean by that is, learn how to do functional movements like squats and deadlifts. Knowing how to correctly perform these movements, the body learns to operate in a safe and efficient manner. Working out on machines does the exact opposite, teaching the body to operate in a single plane, devoid of any stabilizer muscles which can lead to injury and weakened muscle systems.
I prefer to focus on increasing movement efficiencies rather than using isolation exercises to train specific muscles.
Every workout is a full body routine that ends a short interval cardiovascular session to build conditioning and incinerate fat. Kettlebells are a staple in my gym.
