Personal Trainer Overview
To facilitate his clients’ successes, Alan uses a wide variety of tools; these could include physical training and the discipline of commitment, goal setting and tracking and introduction to internal motivation, even tools taken from his research in Psychology and Business . Mindfulness in the Moment is central to his work; increasing your concentration skills allows for the slowing down of movement and thought, speeding up both physical and mental acuity. This guides the ability to focus on the here and now, helping create the balance that all aspire to.
Training Philosophy
For the twenty-five years that I have been a personal trainer and wellness coach, it surprises me when I hear of others in this field who promise to be all things to all people. I, like almost every other, am not an expert in all the modalities that elevate individuals to live better lives. Outstanding knowledge, skill, motivation and information are tools my clients deserve when they hire me. Because of this, I created Kumu Bodyworks Partnership, a new, interactive model for health and wellness on the personal and corporate level. Kumu forms a team of individuals, nationally and internationally known experts who are directly accessible by our clients, and each other, as resource experts. We are true experts in our fields; Kumu encompasses true wellness over a range of modalities. It is my hope that you, as my client, will see us and access us as a team, whose combined knowledge, wisdom and energy are directed towards your increased health and long term well-being.

Bio
Alan did his undergraduate work at CU Boulder and His graduate work at CSUS. He has been a personal trainer and health coach for 25 years, though his first introduction to the healthy lifestyle was as an elite athlete. He started his fitness career first as a cyclist, both amateur and then professional in Boulder, Colorado. After retiring from cycling in 1987, he became a staff trainer at The Rockies Athletic Club, also in Boulder, Colorado. He moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and continued in this position before moving on to training other personal trainers at the Honolulu Club, then fitness manager at the Hawaii Kai Athletic Club. In 1989, Bradley started his own private practice, all the while moving forward with a second athletic career. As a triathlete, Bradley competed in over 30 races, including 6 Ironman World Championship qualifiers and finally the 1994 Ironman Triathlon World Championships. He not only competed but also coached others, including the men’s world record holder and women’s overall champion at the Ironman. He has coached professional athletes in five sports; golf, surfing, cycling, triathlon and jui-jitsu . His practice has also includes general fitness enthusiasts, post-rehabilitation patients, weekend athletes, weight loss achievers, and those with the more spiritual goal of increased mindfulness.
Another aspect of Bradley’s practice has been on the corporate side of wellness. He has developed corporate programs for Grace Pacific Corporation, Hawaiian Tel, and Capital Program Management. His largest program, completed in 1997, was the design, implementation and management of the Corporate Wellness Program at First Hawaiian Bank, now Bank of the West, with 6500 employees. This program became a model in the banking industry.
