The National Federation of Professional Trainers ( NFPT) Personal Trainer Certification

The NFPT offers an Online Certification program. It is one of the more popular certs since it it fairly easy to access online.

The NFPT offers 3 certification options:
1. Standard Certification is $425
2. Standard Certification for individuals already working in the field. Employer involvment is involved and the cost is $280
3. Membership, this does not include the Cert. You can take the cert exam later but must pay the remainder $250 at time of exam
* Some additional fees are required to proctor the exam and a fee for the computrerized exam exist as well.

The requirements are:
18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience with weight resistance training and/or cardio training
Recommend that all applicants become certified in CPR
Pass a written exam consisting of 120 questions that pertain to:
Human anatomy
Human physiology
Professional and legal practices
Understanding characteristics of wellness
Exercise physiology
Identifying client’s goals
Implementing an exercise program 25%

The NFPT certification must be renewed annually for $75.
