The International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA) Personal Fitness Trainer Certification
The International Fitness Professionals Association offers more than 60 certifications as well as more than 100 continuing education courses. IFPA is NCCA accredited and carries excellent industry recognition.
IFPA Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT ) may also qualify for other advanced certifications. These may include:
Master Personal Fitness Trainer
Advanced Personal Fitness Trainer
Group Fitness Instructor
Advanced Functional Trainer
Senior Fitness Specialist
Youth Fitness Instructor
Weight Management Instructor

Exam Requirements:
18 years old and have a high school diploma
Hold a current certification in adult CPR
Fitness training related experience
The IFPA certification must be renewed every two years at a cost of $25 (all IFPA CEU’s) or $45 (using outside source CEU’s).
The professional must have 12 continuing education credits yearly in which 6 CEU’s are mandatory of IFPA material in order to renew.
IFPA offers four package options to register for the Personal Fitness Trainer certification.
Registering for the Personal Fitness Trainer Certification is as easy as:
1. Choose which package you would like to register with which includes your fee for testing
2. Call the IFPA to register and make payment for your certification package
3. Receive your materials and study (recommended a minimum of 4-6 weeks)
4. Attend a 2 day complimentary review workshop in your area if available
5. Schedule your test with the IFPA within 6 months of registration
6. The test is 100 multiple choice questions given closed book by a proctor at a location near you over one hour and forty minutes
7. 80% is a passing score
Testing only fee: $349 (no study materials)
